Do’s and dont’s in text

Always follow these simple rules

Rules:

  • We are We Don’t Have Time, never abbreviate, always use Title Case and spaces between We, Don't, Have, and Time.
  • Use the curly apostrophe (Unicode character U+2019) in We Don’t Have Time. The straight apostrophe (Unicode character U+0027), We Don't Have Time, is also ok to be used in longer texts, but never when the text is set in Noe Display. Never use an accent, i.e. We Don´t Have Time.
  • Our hashtag #WeDontHaveTime should be spelt just like that in CamelCase.
  • “We” ordinarily refers to the We Don’t Have Time organization, although there may be exceptions to this rule.
  • The word shall belongs in the Bible, not when we write for or about We Don't Have Time.
  • We use the Oxford comma.
  • Our url wedonthavetime.org shall be spelt without www and in small case.
  • Separate our name and our hashtag. Other people may use our hashtag but only we can use our company name as the sender.
  • Never write in CAPITALS as it suggests shouting.
  • Try not to break our company name, especially the line after ”We Don’t” in order to avoida pessimistic ”We Don’t” all by itself.
  • Mention ”We Don’t Have Time” once at the beginning of each document, then only ”we”, unless where it is appropriate to spell out the entire name.
  • Headlines should be calls to action that instil hope.
  • Avoid headlines that start with ”We Don’t Have Time” since it sets a negative tone.
  • Avoid headlines that are questions, except for social media and web pages we want to inspire a Call To Action (CTA) and where the use of ”you” and the question format has advantages.
  • When using text on images, keep the sentence as short as possible. In social media posts, aim for 3 to 5 words, except when using a tag line.
  • When possible, always keep our text in our primary blue color. On blue background and dark images text can be set in white.
  • Our primary green color is used only for actions, i.e links and CTA.
  • When writing Swedish copy, adress companies with ”ni”.
