Welcome to the United Nations SDG Lounge, hosted by the United Nations Development Programme, Deloitte Digital and PVBLIC Foundation. Presenting 4 days of live broadcasting from Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity 2023, The United Nations SDG Lounge will bring you daily content from June 20 through June 23 from 11:00-13:00 CET.

Together, the private and public sector must unlock creative potential to implement scalable, impactful solutions. Since founding his first business out of his high school locker, Nelson has built several companies—including two digital agencies, a search management start-up, a quick service restaurant chain, and a winery—all while spending a career solving problems across a variety of industries and challenges. Johan Strid has over 30 years of experience as a high level political advisor at the intersection of politics, business, civil society and sustainable development. He has worked as an ministerial advisor, CEO of the Swedish Scouts and the Swedish Paralympic Committee. An entrepreneur and a strategist, in 2020 he joined The Ocean Race, where he leads the efforts to accelerate ocean health and promote ocean rights.
Boris Herrmann (41) was the first German in the Vendée Globe, finishing 5th told in his book, “Allein zwischen Himmel und Meer“, a bestseller. He has set multiple world records and is a renowned skipper in the sailing world. Boris’ passion for the sea began as a child on sailing trips near his hometown of Oldenburg. He studied economics and sustainable management at the University of Bremen and is a climate action champion and speaker on sustainability issues. He uses his platform to advocate for climate action in the face of the climate crisis.
Rosalin Kuiper (27), an experienced offshore sailor with over 55,000 miles sailed, co-skipper for Team Malizia. Sailing since she was 6 years old and competing from the age of 18 in iconic races. She has a degree in science psychology and specializes in sports psychology and group dynamics and loves spending time in nature high up in the mountains.
Until 2018, Terry Savage was Chairperson of Cannes Lions, a role he held for 15 years. On leaving he formed my own consultancy Savages Unlimited, working with organizations in the USA, China, Egypt, Japan, UK and of course Australia. He is currently chair of The Marketing Academy a cutting edge non for profit with leadership development programs in USA, UK and Australia, and Chairperson of London International Awards held in Las Vegas annually. The focus of his career has been to drive creativity, not just in the advertising space but across all elements of the business.
Sara is an independent consultant with 30 years of managing operations for high profile, internationally renowned organisations. She is currently studying for a business coaching accreditation and supporting start-up companies. Before relocating to South-East Asia in 2022, she was the Chief Operating Officer at the Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford, where she worked closely with the Dean and the Board to shape and deliver the school’s strategic direction and advance the purpose, sustainability, and diversity agendas. For over two decades, Sara worked at the BBC, leading global teams and winning awards for world-class news reporting and digital transformation. She held a series of senior roles, including Director of BBC Monitoring, Bureau Chief in Russia, Asia and the Middle East, as well as heading the Russian Service and Business and Economics Unit of BBC News. Sara has a BA Hons in Modern Languages from the University of Bristol. She lives in Bangkok with her partner and two daughters

A love of creativity and engineering has shaped a 30-year career spent imagining and delivering large and complex digital solutions for clients across multiple industries and geographies. Sam is one of the founding partners of Deloitte Digital and prior to becoming the CEO he led the UK and EMEA businesses. Under his leadership Deloitte Digital has further cemented it’s position (as assessed by Gartner, Forrester and other independent analysts) as the global leader across a broad set of consumer impacting capabilities (CRM, customer experience, commerce and marketing technology) and established creative leadership in key markets with recognition in the form of rapid revenue growth and multiple awards. With digital technologies becoming ever more ubiquitous and critical to organisational success, Sam’s experience of bringing together capabilities from across Deloitte, and a broader ecosystem, to solve clients’ most pressing business issues with technology infused solutions, will serve him well in his roles as the Chief Strategy Officer for Consulting. The client work that Sam shapes and leads is transformational. In recent years he has provided executive leadership for programmes that have enabled consumer brands to drive the exponential growth of their global direct-to-consumer revenue, delivered platforms that enabled traditional retailers to build successful omni-channel businesses, and dramatically increased the market capitalization of two wholly owned subsidiaries in the financial services sector prior to divestment. In the UK, he has worked with public sector organisation to digitized citizen services, simultaneously solving for increased demand (and citizen expectations) and reduced budget.
Nick has 24 years industry experience leading some of the most creative companies in world, while also working globally and locally on some of the most dynamic brands in the world – Airbnb, Apple, Google, Adidas, The United Nations, Absolut Vodka, Heineken, BMW Mini, Levi’s and VW to name but a few. Nick joined Deloitte Digital Creative as a partner in September 2021. He sits on numerous advisory boards, has launched several companies in the past two years and in a pro-bono capacity is the senior global strategy and creative consultant for the United Nations Development Programme in New York.

Louisiane is the head of innovation & impact for EcoTree. She is specialized in developing offers that: - have an impact on the protection and restoration of natural ecosystems (for climate, biodiversity and social impact) - are attractive for companies and individuals so that they are willing to finance our offers. Louisiane’s main focus is studying CSR strategies of companies and how our offers can be part of it.

Tracey is an award-winning executive creative director and filmmaker based in NYC who was recently recognized for AdWeek’s Future is Female award as an outstanding leader demonstrating organizational change and commitment to impact. Her multi-disciplined background explores the intersection of thoughtful design and impactful storytelling in service of creating meaningful, authentic connections. For 20+ years, Tracey has launched commercials, experiences, digital products, content, and films for some of the biggest brands in the world through this human-centered lens. Tracey served as a juror at One Show and Cannes Lions and her work has been honored by them and many award shows across the globe ever since. In 2022, Tracey launched RELATIVE, a feature documentary she directed and produced that breaks the silence on multigenerational trauma within her family. Tracey is currently the US Head of Design at Deloitte Digital, General Manager of the NY studio, and lives in Montclair NJ with her wife and two daughters.
Rebekah ‘Bex’ Kelly, Executive Producer for FINCH Aotearoa/New Zealand, is known for her championing of the best possible work, whilst working in a collaborative and constructive creative environment. With a first-class Masters in Filmmaking from Goldsmiths College in London, and a background in politics and development, Bex combines a keen interest in the world with a love of film - leading to a unique intersection of storytelling, impact, and craft. Interested in addressing representation and diversity in the commercials industry, Bex strongly believes in the new places the industry can go when clients, agencies and production companies work together.
Adrianne C. Smith is the Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer at FleishmanHillard. Prior to joining FleishmanHillard, Adrianne was named the first Global Director of Inclusion and Diversity at WPP. Adrianne is also the Founder and Visionary of the Can: Diversity Collective, a nonprofit organization created to provide access and exposure to young adults of color and underrepresented communities to global thought leadership conferences in communications, advertising, marketing, creativity, economics, innovation and technology. In 2018, she launched the Cannes Can: Diversity Collective (CC:DC), an iteration of the Diversity Collective, which provides rising stars in the advertising and creative industry the opportunity to attend and participate in the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. That same year, she also brought five young people to Cannes through the nonprofit. In 2019, the program grew to include 25 young people and Adrianne launched the first-ever DE&I activation at Cannes called “Inkwell Beach,” named as a tribute to the historic beach in Martha’s Vineyard, which was a place of solace for Black people during segregation. In 2022, CC:DC returned to Cannes with 20-plus ambassadors to spotlight their talents and celebrate the intersections of DE&I, innovation and creativity. In 2023, she will be bringing another 20-person cohort of ambassadors from around the world. What started five years ago – before many of the DE&I efforts initiated in the aftermath of George Floyd’s murder – as a small group of young professionals has grown into a cohort of more than two dozen young people from four continents.
Denise Pearl leads the global strategic vision for sustainability partnerships across Google Cloud within the ecosystem and channels organization. Her primary focus is discovering, enabling and amplifying business ready solutions powered by Google Cloud that help our mutual customers meet/achieve their climate and ESG goals. Denise and her team focus on several key areas including sustainable value chains, carbon free energy, climate risk and resilience and ESG reporting. Before joining Google, Denise held various sales leadership roles at Nokia, Symantec, EMC and Microsoft. She has a passion for climate issues and works diligently to spread the word about Google’s Geo for Everyone projects.
Gilad, a seasoned serial entrepreneur, has a remarkable track record of establishing successful ventures in the Renewable Energy and Corporate Advisory sectors. His journey into the realm of sustainability commenced in 2004 with a strategic investment in cutting-edge wind technology. Building upon this foundation, in 2011, Gilad founded Windfire, an avant-garde distributed energy solution driven by vertical-axis wind turbines. Motivated by the aspiration to ignite a global commitment to enhancing our world, Gilad established Kora. Kora represents a paradigm shift, offering an innovative platform that redefines the relationship between individuals and the environment, while fostering a collective movement towards sustainability. Gilad is deeply committed to his yogic and meditative practices. He consistently engages in extended fasting and embraces the rigors of ice bathing as part of his routine.
Michele worked in the advertising and entertainment industries for over 30 years. She has held both staff and consultant positions at numerous leading advertising agencies in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, London and Singapore. An avid nature lover and scuba dive master, she founded Project Zero to raise global awareness and funds to restore the ocean, our biggest natural ally in the fight against the climate crisis.
Ayo is a Managing Director in Deloitte Consulting LLP’s strategy practice with 17 years of consulting experience, serving clients in the Technology and Telecom sectors. Ayo also currently serves as the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion lead for Deloitte Consulting, where he focuses on creating a meaningful and consistent experience for all employees to ensure they are comfortable being their authentic selves.
John Hegarty has been central to the global advertising scene over six decades. He was a founding partner of Saatchi and Saatchi in 1970, and he co-founded Bartle Bogle Hegarty in 1982. John’s creative awards are numerous. Last year John launched an online 8-week course, entitled The Business of Creativity, aimed to equip people with tangible tools to help win through the application of creativity.
Philip Thomas is Chief Executive Officer of Ascential Futures, which comprises Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, WARC, WGSN, and Money20/20. He is also Chairman of LIONS, having been CEO of Lions Festivals for ten years between 2006 and 2016. Philip is Chair of Media Trust and was cited as one the Agents of Change for Gender Equality by the UK’s Management Today magazine. In 2022, Philip was awarded an IPA Honorary Fellowship in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the advertising industry.
Investor and Entrepreneur in climate tech, JC Jung joined the Ice Memory Foundation as an Ambassador. The purpose of the foundation it to collect Ice Cores from all major high altitude glaciers and store them in Antartica as archives for scientists of the future. It is about saving the climate memory of the planet before it is too late. He is also a Managing Partner of Global Sustainable Future (GSF). He focuses on financing of clean technologies and large-scale projects in Energy, Mobility, Water, Air and Carbon. He also advises Cleantech startups and large corporations with their Net Zero Strategy. He co-founded Tarform, an electric motorcycle start-up set to disrupt the two-wheeled transportation industry through advanced manufacturing and clean technology.

Her company ConsciousU turns organisations into conscious tribes through their scalable blended learning online based coaching programmes. She is the author of the book 'Conscious You: Become the Hero of Your Own Story' and is currently working on her forthcoming book The Conscious Tribe Playbook.
Daniel Wilkins is a media professional specializing in out-of-home media and digital display technologies. In January 2008 he launched the first ever privately held media agency solely dedicated to the planning and buying of digital place-based media campaigns, called n2. In 2012, he sold both of his companies, Wilkins Media Company and n2, to a private investment group. In December 2013, Daniel launched AGENCY672, which simplifies the planning and buying process for all out-of-home media formats globally. He is also the Executive Director of the PVBLIC Foundation, a non-profit organization that harnesses the power of media to drive social change. When he isn’t helping create meaningful media partnerships, he can be found teaching Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), competing in BJJ tournaments around the country, or spending time with his wife and two daughters. Specialties: Strategic media planning and buying, out-of-home media, digital, digital place-based media, non-profit management, social impact, and marketing.
Florian Weischer was born in 1958, he is German, married and father of 4 children. He holds a degree in economics from Universität Hannover and worked in his career for several international advertising agencies in the 80´s. He stepped into the family business in 1990 and together with his brother Marcus brought Weischer.Media from a little media service agency of 20 people to a staff of nowadays 400. Besides business Florian is a passionate farmer (regenerative farming at Gut Haidehof), environmentalist, drummer and sailor.
Rupen’s personal purpose lies in building businesses that our conscience can live with. As Una Terra’s CMO and Venture partner, Rupen is responsible for scaling the impact of the fund, the companies invested in, and the broader movement addressing climate change and the loss of biodiversity. Prior to joining Una Terra, Rupen served as the outside-in global CMO at Dole Sunshine Co. Rupen and the team’s work have gained external recognition, with Forbes naming him one of the world's most influential CMO twice, his induction into the World Federation of Advertisers Marketers hall of fame, and being recognized as a CMO to watch by Business Insider. Adweek has acknowledged him as a sustainability star, Provoke as a global 100 Influencer, and he has consistently appeared on the Asia-Pacific Power List for the Campaign magazine.
British sailor Will Harris with extensive experience in double handed ocean races is co-skipper of Team Malizia. has an excellent reputation as a navigator and meteorologist, having won the 2021 Class 40 Fastnet Race and the 2020 IRC 1 Overall Caribbean 600, and placing third in The Ocean Race Europe with Team AkzoNobel. He was introduced to offshore sailing while studying Oceanography at the University of Southampton and writes for a Yachts and Yachting column.
Orli Robin is the Head of Strategy and Communication at Airbus Ventures, an early to growth-stage venture capital firm independently supporting startups set to shift the future of aerospace by investing in a full spectrum of fast-accelerating deep-tech technologies addressing our planet’s greatest challenges. Orli has deep lineage at the USC Shoah Foundation—The Institute for Visual History and Education, where she supported advancement, stewardship, and research. Orli is an alumna of the Yale Writers’ Workshop and holds a Masters in Religion from Harvard University and an MFA in Nonfiction from Sarah Lawrence College, where she studied with Vijay Seshadri and Jo Ann Beard. She sits on the Advisory Council for the John Henry Weidner Foundation.
As President of Advertising Sales for The Walt Disney Company, Rita Ferro leads advertising sales for the Company’s audio, entertainment, news, sports, kids linear and digital TV ad-supported streaming businesses: ABC Entertainment, ABC Daytime and ABC News; Disney Channels Worldwide; Disney+; ESPN Networks and ESPN+; Freeform; FX; Hulu; and National Geographic. She also leads the integrated sales team for Disney Digital, the Company’s online, mobile and social offerings. Additionally, Ferro directs National TV and Regional Ad Sales for ABC’s eight owned local TV stations. Under her leadership, Disney offers advertisers a one-stop approach to leverage the breadth of Disney’s portfolio and reach audiences across all of the Company’s media properties. Her direction has transformed Disney’s advertising strategy and influenced the industry at large – resulting in a consultative and insights-led sales approach that allows clients to drive maximum growth in their businesses.
Colie Edison serves as Senior Vice President and Chief Growth Officer for the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA). A veteran strategic leader and transformative marketer, Edison became the league’s first-ever Chief Growth Officer in January 2022. She is charged with league business and strategy functions and leads efforts on all league and team revenue-generating opportunities. She is based in the WNBA’s New York office and reports directly to Commissioner Engelbert. Prior to the WNBA, Edison was with the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA), where she served as the first female Chief Executive Officer in the organization’s history. Leanne Fremar is the Chief Brand Officer for JPMorgan Chase, leading the firm’s brand strategy, creative, advertising, content, video, and consumer insights across our three Masterbrands and the lines of business that sit within them. Leanne joined the firm in September of 2018 from Starbucks, where she was the executive creative director, leading global brand initiatives and creative campaigns. She was previously the executive creative director for the women’s business at Under Armour and the architect of the company's award-winning "I Will What I Want" campaign. Leanne has deep experience in social impact marketing as well as retail sales and store branding.
Dr Andrew White is a Senior Fellow of Management Practice at the Saïd Business School, at the University of Oxford, and director of the school’s top-ranking Advanced Management and Leadership Programme. Each year, the programme inspires 80 global leaders to commit to bold, new strategic directions. Andrew’s research, publications and podcasts focus on what it takes to lead transformation successfully, given the challenges of meeting sustainability goals, fast-changing technology and a more discerning customer base.
Siddhant Sachdeva is the co-founder of Rocket Learning, where he leads operations and behaviour change media. He previously worked as a project leader at Boston Consulting Group and has experience in large-scale public and private sector transformation projects. He holds an MBA from IIM Calcutta, a BTech from IIT Delhi, and a master’s in international management from University of St Gallen, Switzerland. Siddhant was also featured on the Business World Social Impact Leaders and Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia list.
Mohamed Issa is a Vice President leading U.S. Dermatology and Rheumatology for Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson, where he delivers innovation to market. Mohamed has led business units within pharmaceuticals, consumer and MedTech sectors at Johnson & Johnson. Before joining Johnson & Johnson, Mohamed co-founded a healthcare company that reached consumers across 13 countries and saw a 200x return on investment under his leadership. Mohamed holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from St. John’s University and completed his MBA from NYU Stern School of Business.
Shamel (Mel) Washington is an Associate Creative Director at Deloitte Digital. In this role, he focuses on creating work at the intersection of health, equity, and innovation. His work has been awarded by Cannes Lions, The One Show, The Art Director's Club, LIA, The ANDYs, and covered by Forbes.
Jeanette leads Danone’s global engagement and advocacy for sustainability topics. In this role, she defines company positions and policies on social and environmental topics, and works with internal and external partners to activate them. She also leads the company’s journey to be fully certified as a B Corp by 2025. Before joining Danone, Jeanette served in the U.S. Mission to UNESCO and the OECD, where she catalyzed and helped spearhead a number of global initiatives for sustainable, peaceful and inclusive development. Jeanette holds a Bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University and Master’s degrees from Sciences Po Paris and the London School of Economics.
Nneka Henry is the Head of the UN Road Safety Fund Secretariat where she leads its work on portfolio management, fundraising, strategic partnerships and global advocacy. Before joining the Fund on 1 May 2021, she worked for more than 15 years building multi-sector alliances, implementing multi-country projects, managing high-level events and influencing policy change at the United Nations, World Trade Organization and World Health Organization.
In her role Ms. Ponti led several global initiatives including the #Trunitaround and #FlipTheScript campaigns that have mobilized over more than 350 million SDG actions in 190 countries and the UN SDG Action Awards that identifies and celebrates changemakers from across geographies and sectors. As a strong advocate for social and climate justice, Ms. Ponti believes in the power of creativity to lead positive change towards more inclusive, sustainable and peaceful societies. Previously as one of the main architects of the UN Millennium Campaign, Ms. Ponti served as the Global Deputy Director and Regional Director for Europe for over a decade and was at the vanguard of innovative campaign initiatives, building multi-stakeholder coalitions, mobilizing resources and forging long-term partnerships between civil society organizations, local governments, parliamentarians, media, private sector and the UN. She also served as a Special Advisor on post-2015 during the final negotiations of the 2030 Agenda, along her roles at the UNICEF and UN Secretariat and Catapult - a girls and women’s right crowdfunding platform.
As Tourism Australia’s Chief Marketing Officer, Susan is responsible for driving the organisation’s global marketing strategy, ensuring that Australia’s tourism marketing efforts continue to cut through in the competitive international marketplace. Having joined Tourism Australia in 2017, Susan lead the creative development for campaigns such as Dundee and Undiscover Australia. Before devoting her time to the travel and tourism industry, Susan helped change the face of many blue-chip brands during her 20-year long career as a marketer. Working in an agency environment, Susan gained a wealth of experience with high profile clients such as Qantas, News Corp and Westpac. She was also one of the handful of people lucky enough to have worked on the single most referenced campaign in the industry ‘Think different’ by Apple.
