Melissa Leach, CBE, FBA is a British geographer and social anthropologist. She is a expert with the International Panel of Experts on Sustainable Food Systems, Director of the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) at the University of Sussex, and founder of the ESRC STEPS (Social, Technological and Environmental Pathways to Sustainability) Centre. Her interdisciplinary, policy-engaged research in Africa and beyond links environmental, agricultural, health, technology and gender issues. Recent publications include the books Dynamic Sustainabilities: Technology, Environment, Social justice (2010, Earthscan); Green Grabbing (co-ed, 2012, Taylor and Francis); The Politics of Green Transformations (co-ed, 2015, Taylor and Francis) and Gender Equality and Sustainable Development (ed, forthcoming). She is vice-chair of the Science Committee of Future Earth and advisor to the UK's Economic and Social Research Council ‘Nexus Network: New connections in food, energy, water and the environment’
Mark Swilling is a Distinguished Professor of Sustainable Development in the School of Public Leadership, University of Stellenbosch, South Africa, where he is the Co-Director of the Stellenbosch Centre for Complex Systems in Transition.
Rasmus is a postdoctoral researcher at the polytechnic university UPM in Madrid, Spain. His work is broadly about sustainable agro-food systems, considering both food supply and environmental impacts such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and air pollution. His main research focus is the use of nitrogen and phosphorus from field to fork. He works in an interdisciplinary team of researchers describing historical and present agro-food systems and exploring scenarios for a more sustainable future.
Anders Finnson is a Senior Environmental Advisor at Svenskt Vatten (Swedish Water). He is specialized in policy, media, and technical issues on the water environment. Since 2017, he is a member of the Advisory board of the Swedish Chemicals Agency, as well as a member of the European Water Companies Association. He is also a member of the Swedish Eco-labeling Committee since 2008, and a board member of the NGO Toilet Without Borders.
Elisabeth Hidén, 26 years. Agronomist and President of the Federation of young Swedish farmers. Raised on a farm with my parents and four siblings. It's a farm with forest and plant production. Today I live on my husband's farm with my husband and our one-year-old son, which is a dairy farm with cows, forest and a biogas plant. I work at Lantmännen, a large Swedish agricultural cooperative, in the membership department.
Anna Lundbom joined EasyMining, an innovation company within Ragn-Sells Group, in May 2020 as the Marketing and Product Sales Manager. She is focusing on leading the project to commercialize EasyMining´s nitrogen removal and recovery process along with business development for the company´s other processes and products. Anna joined the Ragn-Sells Group, one of the Nordic’s largest waste management companies, in 2012 and has been working with business development and sales in various positions. Previous to Ragn-Sells, she worked as a management consultant. Anna is a graduate of Linköping’s University and holds a MSc in Industrial Engineering and Management. Thrilled to be a part of creating circular solutions for nutrients and other important materials, Anna is devoted to creating cooperation between companies and raise the awareness of the legislative hindrances that exists.
Christian Kabbe is CEO of EasyMining in Germany and thus plays an important role in phosphorus recovery from incinerated sewage sludge in the country, for which the company has a unique patented technology. He has solid experience in phosphorus recovery – and is passionate about the implementation of the circular economy.
Rasmus Prehn is a Danish politician, who is currently serving as the Minister for Food, Agriculture and Fisheries. He previously served as Minister for Development Cooperation from 2019 to 2020. He has been a member of the Folketing since the 2005 Danish general election.
Prof. Mark Sutton is chair of the International Nitrogen Initiative (INI), a joint project of the IGBP and SCOPE and is co-chair of the Task Force on Reactive Nitrogen (TFRN), a body of the UN-ECE Geneva Convention on Long Range Transboundary Air Pollution. His work in these areas has included preparing options for revision of the UNECE Gothenburg Protocol and developing a vision of how the global nitrogen Since 2012 Prof Sutton has been working with the UNEP supporting their work through the Global Programme of Action on the Protection of the Marine Environment from Land-based Activities (GPA), leading the provision of science advice the GPA 3rd Intergovernmental Review (IGR-3, Manila). This subsequently led to his leadership of the Global Overview on Nutrient Management for UNEP ‘Our Nutrient World’ in 2013. In recent years, Prof. Sutton has focused on developing the links between ammonia and other nitrogen compounds in the environment.
Dines Thornberg has 35 years of experience within wastewater treatment. He presently works as Innovation Manager in the Danish Utility BIOFOS. He is a specialist in process design and control of wastewater treatment. In management and design of sewer systems as well as energy and resources in wastewater treatment. Examples of previous engagements: Industrial research education. Consulting Engineer. Team manager in a French research centre. Department manager in Danish public utility. Management and participation in Danish and EU- supported R&D projects.
The interest of environment and sustainability took off for real during my environmental studies at the university. I realised that leadership, business and economics played a great roll in order to make difference, which led me to do both economics and MBA. I´ve been manager in different sectors (forestry, urban planning and social development) always with sustainability and leadership as my leading star. Kersti Kaljulaid is an Estonian politician who served as the fifth president of Estonia. In 2004, when Estonia joined the European Union, Kaljulaid was appointed the country's representative at the European Court of Auditors. Since 2011, Kaljulaid has been the chairperson of the board of the University of Tartu. In her earlier career, Kalijulaid workers as the economic economic advisor of Estonian Prime Minister Mart Laar. From 2002 to 2004, she was the director of Iru Power Plant, a subsidiary of the state-owned energy company Eesti Energia.
Arnaud Marquis has been Group Sustainability Officer of Tarkett since July 2020. He joined Tarkett in 2016 as Vice President Hardflooring EMEA. Before joining Tarkett, he worked at Ahlstrom-Munksjö Group, a leading player in fiber products, for more than 20 years, in different international business roles related to Sales, Marketing, and Operations. He is a graduate of Grenoble engineering school (INPG) - Pagora and holds an Executive MBA from EM Lyon business school. Within the Executive Committee, Arnaud's mission is to intensify the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and the deployment of circular solutions for our customers. He oversees innovation programs for the circular economy and the creation of associated business models. He also ensures that all Tarkett teams take full ownership of sustainability issues.
Kadri Simson is an Estonian politician from the Centre Party, European Commissioner for Energy in the von der Leyen Commission since 1 December 2019. She was previously Minister of Economic Affairs and Communications in Jüri Ratas' first cabinet from 2016 to 2019.
Mads Randbøll Wolff is owner and founder of Bæredygtighed 2030 (Sustainability 2030) a small Copenhagen based consultancy focusing on sustainability, climate change, resiliency, bioeconomy, and democracy. With more than 20 years of experience from public administration, international relations and advising he is dedicated to catalyzing societal changes that makes us able to address the growing challenges with regard to sustainable development, climate change and democracy. Mads has a strong insight in public policy and administration in Denmark as well as the Nordic countries and experiences from international cooperation both on a bilateral level as well as on a multilateral level, specifically from the Nordic Council of Ministers, OECD, UNFCCC, CBD and UNESCO. He is focused on the search for the link between the global challenges and the local solutions and uses his knowledge and insight on the UN SDG's, climate change, resiliency and bioeconomy to co-create and foster new solutions in rural and urban communities.
