Around the world, the energy transition is increasingly defined not by individual technologies or sectors, but by the ability to think and act at the systems level. New paradigms are emerging where traditional boundaries between industries, public utilities, and other actors are displaced by partnerships and cooperation, allowing waste streams, infrastructure, and innovation to unlock new efficiencies.
This panel will explore how cross-organization collaboration is reshaping the path to net zero, drawing on models from the data center boom, Stockholm’s de-siloed heat and electricity networks, and China’s nationwide push for next-generation distributed grids. The bottom line is that synergy is the key to progress.
Bringing together perspectives from the energy sector, industry, tech, and policy, the discussion will examine how breaking down silos—across industries, borders, and regulatory frameworks—is necessary to align innovation and infrastructure for a sustainable, interconnected future.

As the world watches the 1.5°C goal drift beyond reach, the need for solutions that can rapidly curb rising temperatures is acute. One of the most powerful levers we have is also one of the most overlooked: methane.
Methane traps far more heat than CO₂, but it doesn’t linger nearly as long. That means slashing methane emissions can deliver a rapid cooling effect—buying precious time to strengthen resilience and fully decarbonize the global economy. For companies and investors seeking to make a measurable, near-term impact, methane reductions are among the most effective actions available today.
However, to unlock this potential, credible methodologies and high-integrity standards are essential. Robust measurement, verification, and certification systems ensure that every tonne of methane reduced translates into real, additional, and verifiable climate impact.
Join us for a conversation on how collaboration between standard-setters, project developers, investors, and policymakers can accelerate methane mitigation worldwide: what’s being done to scale credible action, how integrity frameworks fit into corporate sustainability and investment strategies, and why a global agreement on methane, underpinned by trusted methodologies, is essential to keeping climate hopes alive.

The energy transition has to be not only clean, but also just and inclusive. Energy poverty is a big problem in many parts of the world, and this cannot be solved by simply adding more renewable energy to the system. Energy communities can provide socio-economic benefits for citizens, by capping or lowering energy bills for members during crises, affordable home upgrades, putting in place measures to increase gender inclusiveness, or sharing surplus electricity with vulnerable households for free.
In this fifth episode of Energy Efficiency First, we will dive deeper into the role energy communities play in empowering local communities in clean energy production while making energy access more inclusive and equitable.

Access to reliable information is a prerequisite for democracy. But currently, both democracy and science are under attack. In 2024 alone, 45 countries experienced democratic backsliding. This decline is reflected not only in restrictions on media freedom and the harassment of journalists, but also in citizens’ shrinking ability to discuss politics openly in the public sphere.
Simultaneously, science and scientists around the world are facing growing threats. Ideological agendas are undermining research, academic freedom, and funding. Misinformation and attacks on scientists are spreading on platforms intended for open debate.
Join us as we discuss these threats — and how to reverse the trend — with journalists, scientists, politicians, and members of civil society from around the world.

The World’s First Concert for Nature will mark a new chapter in the relationship between art, science & spirit. Ahead of COP30 in Belém, Brazil a new kind of concert will take place in the heart of the Amazon rainforest – not a performance for people, but an offering to the living Earth. Love Your Mother, the World’s First Concert for Nature, with Amazon for Life, will unite Indigenous wisdom, scientific research and sonic artistry in an exploration of what happens when we express gratitude and good intention to nature itself. It will be presented by OMMM, in partnership with Amazon for Life, in a multi-dimensional experience at COP30 in Belém, Brazil.

Join us for daily Science Briefings at COP30, where we bring the latest climate science directly to negotiators, world leaders, media, and the public every day. Just as governments shared daily updates during the COVID-19 pandemic, we want to keep everyone informed about the climate crisis in real time. Listen to scientists and trusted leaders as they deliver regular, fact-based updates on the state of our planet and the frontlines of science: what’s going wrong, what’s driving progress, and what the world urgently needs to know.
Learn more about our global campaign to defend researchers and their institutions under attack, engage world leaders in science-based dialogues, and reinstate science at the heart of global decision-making.
Join our Make Science Great Again campaign and learn how you can support.
