13:00 BRT / 17:00 CET — Breaking Silos for Net Zero Energy

Around the world, the energy transition is increasingly defined not by individual technologies or sectors, but by the ability to think and act at the systems level. New paradigms are emerging where traditional boundaries between industries, public utilities, and other actors are displaced by partnerships and cooperation, allowing waste streams, infrastructure, and innovation to unlock new efficiencies.

This panel will explore how cross-organization collaboration is reshaping the path to net zero, drawing on models from the data center boom, Stockholm’s de-siloed heat and electricity networks, and China’s nationwide push for next-generation distributed grids. The bottom line is that synergy is the key to progress.

Bringing together perspectives from the energy sector, industry, tech, and policy, the discussion will examine how breaking down silos—across industries, borders, and regulatory frameworks—is necessary to align innovation and infrastructure for a sustainable, interconnected future.

13:30 BRT / 17:30 CET — #BuyMoreTime: Methane Action – The climate emergency brake

As the world watches the 1.5°C goal drift beyond reach, the need for solutions that can rapidly curb rising temperatures is acute. One of the most powerful levers we have is also one of the most overlooked: methane.

Methane traps far more heat than CO₂, but it doesn’t linger nearly as long. That means slashing methane emissions can deliver a rapid cooling effect—buying precious time to strengthen resilience and fully decarbonize the global economy. For companies and investors seeking to make a measurable, near-term impact, methane reductions are among the most effective actions available today.

However, to unlock this potential, credible methodologies and high-integrity standards are essential. Robust measurement, verification, and certification systems ensure that every tonne of methane reduced translates into real, additional, and verifiable climate impact.

Join us for a conversation on how collaboration between standard-setters, project developers, investors, and policymakers can accelerate methane mitigation worldwide: what’s being done to scale credible action, how integrity frameworks fit into corporate sustainability and investment strategies, and why a global agreement on methane, underpinned by trusted methodologies, is essential to keeping climate hopes alive.

14:30 BRT / 18:30 CET — Talking Heat Decarbonisation with Energy & Housing Commissioner Dan Jørgensen

In 2023, space and water heating made up nearly 78% of household energy consumption and half of Europe’s overall energy demand. Yet the sector still relies heavily on imported fossil fuels.

Across Europe, change is underway as renewable heat, waste heat recovery and electrification reshape how we warm and cool our homes and industries. The EU’s upcoming heating and cooling strategy marks a turning point and offers a chance to unlock the full potential of district heating and cooling, a technological flagship made in Europe.

The stakes are high. Ensuring comfortable homes, a competitive industry and freedom from fossil imports all depend on smart, integrated and local clean energy systems.

Do not miss our exclusive interview with Energy and Housing Commissioner Dan Jørgensen and Catarina Rolfsdotter, exploring the future of Europe’s heating decarbonisation.

14:00 BRT / 18:00 CET — An Inclusive Energy Transition: The Role of Energy Communities

The energy transition has to be not only clean, but also just and inclusive. Energy poverty is a big problem in many parts of the world, and this cannot be solved by simply adding more renewable energy to the system. Energy communities can provide socio-economic benefits for citizens, by capping or lowering energy bills for members during crises, affordable home upgrades, putting in place measures to increase gender inclusiveness, or sharing surplus electricity with vulnerable households for free.

In this fifth episode of Energy Efficiency First, we will dive deeper into the role energy communities play in empowering local communities in clean energy production while making energy access more inclusive and equitable.

Live today

9:35 BRT / 13:35 CET — Stand with Courage

When courage becomes the path, dialogue becomes action. Join us for the online screening of “Stand with Courage”, a four-part documentary series by Sandrine Dixson-Declève and Carl Eneroth, exploring Europe’s past, present, and future through the lens of resistance, memory, and hope.

The event opens with a 20-minute live conversation from the We Don't Have Time studio at COP30 in Belém, exploring what courage means today. Moderated by Carl Eneroth, the dialogue features:

  • Sandrine Dixson-Declève, grand daughter of Bernard Decleve (Resistance Fighter), systemic climate leader and co-creator of the film, reflecting on the legacy of resistance and how moral courage can shape the future
  • Jean-Marc Lieberherr Monnet, Chair, JM Institute & grandson of EU architect Jean Monnet, offering insights into his grandfather’s vision and method
  • Adélaïde Charlier, youth climate activist and co-founder of Youth for Climate Belgium, speaking about emotional courage and intergenerational hope
  • Victor Hellgren, systems transformation specialist at the Systems Transformation Hub, Belgium, exploring the role of everyday civic courage

The screening then begins — taking viewers on a journey across Belgium and France, guided by Sandrine’s personal reflections. From the WWII resistance trails to the home of Jean Monnet, the film series weaves together historical memory, present-day street voices, and political insight to reimagine Europe’s future.

Featured in the documentary series:

  • Sandrine Dixson-Declève, who leads the narrative with empathy, inviting viewers to stand with courage in uncertain times
  • Bernard Dixson-Declève, WWII resistance fighter and Nazi camp survivor
  • Sybille van den Hove – Granddaughter of WWII resistance fighter and Nazi camp survivor
  • Lynn Tytgat – Granddaughter of WWII resistance fighter and Nazi camp survivor
  • Students at the College of Europe, Bruges
  • Adélaïde Charlier, highlighting youth-led movements and the emotional burden of the climate crisis
  • Victor Hellgren, inviting everyday citizens to define courage in their own words on the streets of Bruges
  • Jean-Marc Lieberherr Monnet, who hosts a powerful conversation at his grandfather’s house on how Monnet’s method can inform today’s European project
  • Jean-Christophe Bas – Grandson of WWI and WWII war veteran building the European Union with former enemies
  • Leah Pisar, President of the Aladdin Project, reflecting on inherited trauma and the courage of reconciliation
  • David Van Reybrouck, historian and author, calling for creative political action in response to war and disillusionment
  • Prof. Dr. Patrizia Nanz, President of the European University and dialogue expert, offering systemic insight into participatory democracy
  • Maria João Rodrigues, former MEP and architect of the Lisbon Strategy, speaking on Europe's digital sovereignty and institutional courage
  • Zakia Khattabi, Belgium’s former Minister for Environment, advocating for environmental justice and plural democracy

12:30 BRT / 16:30 CET — Protecting Democracy: Public discourse and science in turbulent times

Access to reliable information is a prerequisite for democracy.
But currently, both democracy and science are under attack. In 2024 alone, 45 countries experienced democratic backsliding. This decline is reflected not only in restrictions on media freedom and the harassment of journalists, but also in citizens’ shrinking ability to discuss politics openly in the public sphere.

Simultaneously, science and scientists around the world are facing growing threats. Ideological agendas are undermining research, academic freedom, and funding. Misinformation and attacks on scientists are spreading on platforms intended for open debate.

Join us as we discuss these threats — and how to reverse the trend — with journalists, scientists, politicians, and members of civil society from around the world.

11:25 BRT / 15:25 CET — Science Briefings: Putting Science at the Center of COP30

Science is at the heart of the climate movement, but the crucial work of researchers and analysts is under threat: Right at the moment we most need a clear, rational, data-driven understanding of our warming world, hostile political shifts are attacking our truth-seeking institutions.

That’s why we’re opening our COP30 broadcast with a lineup that embodies science, truth, and action. Join us as we hear from Sandrine Dixson-Declève, Daniela Chiaretti, Claudio Angelo, Isobel Bruce, and Richard Folland, where they will break down what’s really happening to our planet, what must change now, and how COP30 will define climate action for years to come.

Hear from Wendy Broadgate, Global Hub Director and Interim Coordinating Director at Future Earth, who joins our broadcast to deliver a keynote on the findings in one of the most valuable climate reports available.

Following the keynote is a panel discussion with two other editors of the report, Paula Mirazo, Research Professional, Global Futures Laboratory, Arizona State University, and Deliang Chen, Xinghua Distinguished Chair Professor, Tsinghua University. They will discuss the findings and explore how science can stay strong in an age of uncertainty.

The session begins with Ingmar Rentzhog’s keynote on how powerful interests are working to deny, delay and cancel science. Ingmar will reveal some murky details on the latest COP-related example from one of the most powerful tech billionaires in the world.

When truth becomes a threat, science becomes resistance. Join the movement to Make Science Great Again.

13:00 BRT / 17:00 CET — Breaking Silos for Net Zero Energy

If science tells us anything, it’s that the world is one, big, interconnected system. What happens in the mountains doesn’t stay there. As part of our ongoing mission to increase science visibility at COP30, we’re welcoming Erik Huss—glaciologist, journalist, and sustainability expert—to explore the deep connections between glacier systems and human health: Melting glaciers ripple through ecosystems, economies, and even our own wellbeing. Drawing on decades of field research from Antarctica to the Arctic, Erik reveals how the story of ice is, in fact, the story of us.

How should the workforce develop to accelerate the green transition? Hear from Efrem Bycer, Head of Workforce and Climate Policy Partnerships at LinkedIn, who will share the latest insights from the 2025 LinkedIn Green Skills Report. Joining online, Efrem Bycer will then participate in our panel discussion on the growing need for green skills, featuring Matilda Uusijärvi, Project Manager from the Swedish union TCO, and Caroline Nordvall, General Secretary for The Network for Sustainable Business in Sweden. Both in the Stockholm studio.

TCO’s recent survey of more than 3,200 Swedish professionals’ views on the need for green skills and lifelong learning shows that Swedish professionals are ready for change and see the transition as an opportunity rather than a threat.

The Network for Sustainable Business in Sweden is the leading network gathering 200 sustainability professionals in Sweden, sharing insíghts and solutions in order to speed up the transition.

9:35 BRT / 13:35 CET — Stand with Courage

This is not just a film series — it is an invitation.

To reclaim Europe’s purpose. To stand on common ground. To lead with empathy.
