11:00–11:45 CET — Why the Energy Supercycle Is Unstoppable

The urgency to act on climate change has never been greater. An "energy supercycle" is under way, expected to continue for at least 20 years, driven by a seismic shift in electricity demand. This growth is accelerated by the increasing need for electrification and digitalization, particularly in high-growth sectors like AI and data centres. Securing a reliable energy supply to meet this demand, while ensuring its affordability and sustainability, is crucial.

This session explores the parallels between today’s energy landscape, focusing on the role of grids in accelerating renewable integration and supporting advanced technologies like small modular reactors (SMRs) and AI-driven energy optimization. It will offer practical insights into how global stakeholders can drive change by embracing future technologies and fostering collaboration to address the climate crisis while building a stronger, more resilient economy.

Speakers:

  • Toshiaki Higashihara, Executive Chairman, Hitachi, Ltd.
  • Andreas Schierenbeck, Senior Vice President & Executive Officer, Hitachi, Ltd., & CEO, Hitachi Energy
  • Elisabeth Vike Vardheim, CEO, Statnett
  • Gerard Reid, Partner & Co-Founder, Alexa Capital
Please Note: This event is available online only. It is a re-broadcast of the physical event that took place in the Ice Village on January 22.

11:00–12:30 CET — Leading Consciously, Leadership, and Wellbeing

Leadership in today’s world requires more than vision—it demands conscious action. Doing is knowing, and businesses must lead by example, demonstrating the connection between action and learning. By embracing self-cultivation, leaders embark on an inner journey to align spirit, body, and mind, fostering authenticity and clarity in their actions.

Equally vital is the external dimension: building collaborative partnerships to co-create unified and transformative approaches to address societal challenges. This session explores how conscious leadership integrates personal growth with collective action, empowering organizations to lead with purpose, inspire wellbeing, and drive meaningful change in a complex, interconnected world.

11:45-12:30 CET – Cool Things About Heat Pumps

Buildings are responsible for nearly 40% of all global emissions, with 15% accounting for their heating and cooling – underscoring the urgent need for sustainable solutions. One of the most effective options are heat pumps—a game-changing technology that reduces our dependence on fossil fuels while making homes and buildings more comfortable and energy-efficient through electrification or decarbonization.

However, heat pumps are often misunderstood. Hosted in collaboration with Trane Technologies, this webinar will bring together leading voices to explore their benefits, debunk misconceptions, and discuss their role in reducing emissions and enhancing energy efficiency.

This webinar will cover:

  • The science and technology behind heat pumps
  • Addressing myths and barriers to adoption
  • Real-world success stories and implementation strategies

Whether you’re a homeowner curious about upgrading, a policymaker shaping sustainable housing, or simply passionate about creating a more sustainable future, this webinar will show why heat pumps are essential —and how they can transform the way we heat and cool our homes while contributing to global decarbonization efforts.

13:00–13:45 CET — Maximizing Climate Action: Individuals vs Organizations, a friendly debate

“I want to do my bit for climate change, but I’m just one person! How can I ever have an impact?”

In this session, two climate leaders will go head-to-head to debate whether individuals can create a greater climate impact at home — or in the workplace. After this debate you’ll finally stop feeling powerless, and take away practical steps you can use to maximise real climate action.

Get the answers to questions like:

  • I’m recycling at home, isn’t that the best way to tackle climate change?
  • We already have a sustainability team at my company, what am I supposed to do?
  • My company is submitting our CSRD report, what more should we do?
  • Individuals just don’t care, so what’s the point?
  • Corporates only greenwash and do the bare minimum, why should we expect more?

Featuring:

  • Renée LaPlante, Founder of Decarbonista, Co-author of Decarbonista: A Refreshing Guide to Climate Savvy Living
  • Erik Stadigh, Co-founder and CEO at Lune
  • Moderated by Libby O’Loghlin, Co-author of Decarbonista: A Refreshing Guide to Climate Savvy Living
